วัดโชเกซา

วัดโชเกซา(Jogyesa) ตั้งอยู่บนถนน วัฒนธรรมที่เป็นที่นิยมมากที่สุดแห่งหนึ่งในกรุงโซ ลที่ ชื่อว่า Insa-dong ใน ตัว เมืองโซลใกล้กับพระราชวังของ Gyeongbokgung

วัด โชเกซา เป็นวัดหลักของนิกายโช เก ของพุทธศาสนาเกาหลี ดังนั้นจึงมีบทบาทสำคัญในศาสนาเซนในเกาหลีใต้ วัดนี้ก่อตั้งขึ้นครั้งแรกเมื่อปีพศ. 1395 เมื่อต้นราช วงศ์โชซอน

เทศกาลวันเกิดของพระ พุทธเจ้าเกิดขึ้นที่วัดโชเกซา และวัดพงอึนซา (Bongeunsa) และถนน Jongno ในวันที่ 6-8 พฤษภาคม เทศกาลนี้มีระยะเวลาสามวัน ต้นกำเนิดของเทศกาลนี้เริ่มในยุค Unified Silla กว่า 1,300 ปีมาแล้วในครั้งนั้น เทศกาลนี้จัดขึ้นเพื่อฉลองพระจันทร์เต็มดวงครั้งแรกของ ปฏิทินจันทรคติ ต่อมาในช่วงราชวงศ์โครีโย (918-1392) เทศกาล นี้กลายเป็นเทศกาลฉลองวัน เกิดของพระพุทธเจ้า

ในเทศกาล นี้ จะมีการแขวนโคมไฟรูปดอกบัวและรูป ปั้นและวัตถุโบราณอัน เป็นตัวแทนของความปรารถนาของผู้คนในวันที่ 6-22 พฤษภาคม ตั้งแต่เวลา 18.00 น. ถึงเที่ยงคืนที่วัดโชเกซา จุดเด่นของการเฉลิมฉลองสามวันคืองาน พาเหรด โคมไฟดอกบัว (Lotus Lantern Parade) ซึ่งหลั่ง ไหลไปตามถนน Jongno จากประตู Dongdaemun ไปยังวัดโชเกซา ผู้เข้าร่วมหลายพันคนต่างถือโคมไฟของตัว เอง ในขบวนพาเหรด กลายเป็นแม่น้ำแห่งแสงที่ไหลผ่านใจกลางกรุงโซล

วัดนี้มีโปรแกรม Temple Stay (การอยู่วัด) ซึ่งเป็น โปรแกรมทางวัฒนธรรมที่สอนให้คนควบคุมจิตใจของตนเองและทำ วิปัสสนาเพื่อสร้างความสงบและความสุขภายใน

Jogyesa Temple

Jogyesa Temple is located in one of the most popular cultural streets in Seoul, , Insa-dong, in downtown Seoul, very close to the palace of Gyeongbokgung.

Jogyesa is the chief temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It thus plays a leading role in the current state of Seon Buddhism in South Korea. The temple was first established in 1395, at the dawn of the Joseon Dynasty.
Buddha's Birthday Festival takes place at Jogyesa and Bongeunsa temples and along Jongno Street on May 6–8. The origin of the three-day festival dates back to the Unified Silla era over 1,300 years ago, when the festival was held on Daeboreum, a day celebrating the first full moon of the lunar calendar; During the Goryeo Dynasty (918-1392), Yeondeunghoe turned into a festival marking Buddha’s birthday.
Lanterns featuring lotus and other traditional figures and objects representing people’s wishes will be hung on May 6–22, from 6 p.m. to midnight at Jogyesa Temple. The highlight of the three-day-long celebration is the Lotus Lantern Parade, which winds along Jongno Street from Dongdaemun Gate to Jogyesa Temple. With thousands of participants, each carrying their own lantern, the parade becomes a river of light flowing through the heart of Seoul.
Temple stay is a cultural program which teach people how to control their mind and introspect themselves so that they use the techniques to achieve the inner peace and happiness.
